Here in this blogpost I have explained my 10 year plan for this project.
This Suncream conure, the result of a Sunconure x Crimson Bellied Conure, was produced @Jayden Joshua Aviculture in India.
This blog post is being shared to further document parrot mutations, hybrids, and species, enhancing the avicultural record. First pair of sun conure and crimson bellied conure we have bought in December 2020 as juveniles and they lived together.
First Hybrid Born: August 2022
In our small aviary, a pair of Sun Conures and Crimson Bellied Conures lived together in harmony, leading to spontaneous crossbreeding. As a result, the first hybrid chick was born in August 2022, with the Sun Conure female and Crimson Bellied male as parents.
Second Hybrid Born: August 2023
The very next year, the next pair laid their first clutch of eggs, yielding only one fertile egg. This resulted in the birth of another hybrid chick in August 2023, with the Crimson Bellied Conure female and Sun Conure male as parents.
With these two female hybrids what can be possibly done if it is going to be fertile ?
PAIR 1: Sun Conure(Hen) X Crimson Bellied Conure(Cock) : Hybrid Female Chick Born
Hybrid chick Suncream Age as of today, 1.8 Years (Reference: Image Below, Aug 2022)
PAIR 2: Age as of today, 8 months
Crimson Bellied Cock paired to a Sun Conure Hen (Alex Hen)
Potential Pairing: Probable Combination
Cross Breed: Pair 1 : Gen 2-G2
Pair Normal Sun Conure Cock to our Suncream Hen(G1). This pairing will produce results similar to those in G1.
All the chicks will be visually Green. All the cocks will be split to Crimson and the hens will not carry the Crimson gene. The Hens will be split to Sun conure.
Cross Breed: Pair 2: Gen 2-G2
Pair Normal Crimson Bellied Conure to Suncream Hen (G1). This pairing will product results similar to those in G1. All the chicks will be visually green with more crimson red in the chest and belly. The cock and hens will be retained and can be paired. All the cocks will be split to Sun conure and the hens will not carry sun conure gene but it will carry the crimson bellied gene.
Future Goals
Planned to Pair: G2 Suncream Hen * G2 Suncream Cock
It took me around 3+ years so far to produce G1 hybrid, to produce G2 chicks it will further take 3 years (2025/2026). To get the G2*G2 Pair chicks it will further take 6 years from now(2029). Overall it may take 10 years for me to experiment this project.
To get more quality & size: What can be done
Again Pair: Split Suncream Cock (G2) to Normal Sun Conure Hen
The pairing in the third generation G3 will be similar to that in the second generation G2. A Split suncream Cock from G2 is paired to an unrelated good pure normal green Sun Conure. The results will also be the same as for G2. You will again get some Suncream conure hens but this time hopefully bigger and better than those in G2.
The cycle is repeated where the pairing and results in G4 are similar to those in G1 and G3. G5 would be similar to G4 and G2. With each generation the size and features resemble more and more closely to the normal Sun & Crimson. Around the fifth generation it becomes very difficult to see any major differences between the normal Sun and the Suncream.
Conclusion
This project Suncream is a 10 year project I’ve taken to experiment the blueprint drawn, though I’ve crossed 3 years still 6 years to go to further document the progress of this project as it evolves.
